Street Vendors’ Issues Discussed at National Seminar; MP Manoj Tiwari Calls Vendors the Backbone of India’s Economy<\/p>\n\n\n

New Delhi: A National Seminar on “Challenges and Solutions for Street Vendors” was organized at the Constitution Club of India, Rafi Marg, New Delhi, under the aegis of the National Federation of Street Vendors and Hawkers. The programme commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Addressing the gathering as the Chief Guest, Manoj Tiwari, Member of Parliament from North East Delhi, said that street vendors are not only running their businesses but also form the backbone of India’s economy. He stated that millions of families depend on this sector for their livelihood, and street vendors play a vital role in the economic activities of every city, town, and locality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Highlighting the initiatives of the Central Government, Tiwari said that several landmark steps have been taken for the welfare and empowerment of street vendors. He particularly mentioned the PM SVANidhi Scheme, through which lakhs of vendors have received collateral-free loans, enabling them to strengthen and expand their businesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


He further stressed that urban local bodies should provide a dignified working environment for street vendors and view them as job creators rather than merely from the perspective of encroachment. He assured that the concerns of street vendors would be effectively raised in Parliament and before the concerned ministries.
Praising the National Federation of Street Vendors and Hawkers, Tiwari said that the organization is doing commendable work by bringing street vendors from across the country onto a common platform. He called upon everyone to work together towards building an India where every street vendor can earn a livelihood with dignity, security, and equal opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


Mahamandaleshwar Mahant Naval Kishore Das, spokesperson of the Akhara Parishad, attended the event as the Guest of Honour. The seminar was coordinated by Gopal Singh, with Ajay Singh “Bobby” serving as the Welcome President. The programme was chaired by Alok Pandey, conducted by National General Secretary Abhishek Nigam, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. Anil Kumar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n


The seminar witnessed participation from hundreds of street vendors, office-bearers, and hawkers representing various states across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
