Demand to Revoke Order Halting Sheetla Mata Temple Construction

Press Conference Calls for Fair Investigation and Resumption of Temple Construction and Renovation Work

Varanasi: A press conference held on Monday regarding the land of Shri Sheetla Mata and Sati Mata Temple in Badi Bazar raised questions over the administrative order halting construction work. Those present demanded a fair investigation, revocation of the order, and resumption of the temple’s construction and renovation work.
Speakers claimed that revenue records relating to the land situated at Arazi No. 478, measuring one Biswa and five Dhoor, in Jalaluddinpura locality under Jaitpura police station, mention the temple. They alleged that the construction work was stopped on the basis of a one-sided report submitted by the lekhpal, following orders numbered 163 and 164 issued by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (Sadar) on September 16, 2026.
According to the speakers, construction work was underway on Plot No. 20/1 within the temple premises, while the dispute concerning Plot No. 20/2 is pending before the court.
The participants demanded that the orders be revoked, the lekhpal’s report and role be investigated, and all concerned parties be given an opportunity to present their views. They also called for the resumption of the temple’s construction work. Additionally, they sought an investigation into the role of Imtiaz Ahmad and demanded legal action if the allegations against him are established.
The speakers urged the administration to resolve the matter in accordance with the law and ensure peace and social harmony in the area.
