Varanasi: Woman Alleges Stepfather Raped, Kidnapped 15-Year-Old Daughter; Seeks Intervention from Police Commissioner

A woman has alleged that her step-husband raped her 15-year-old minor daughter and later kidnapped her. Manisha Devi submitted an application to the Police Commissioner, Varanasi Commissionerate on 22 July 2026, demanding strict legal action against the accused and directions to register an FIR.
According to the application, Manisha Devi, a resident of Baghwanala, Hukulganganj, under Lalpur Pandeypur police station, said she married Mahesh Kumar Srivastava, a resident of Kardhana, under Mirzamurad police station, on 13 July 2017. She has a 15-year-old daughter, Sanjeevani Srivastava, from her first marriage.
Manisha alleges that a few days ago she suspected her daughter was pregnant. When questioned, the daughter told her that the accused Mahesh Kumar had been forcing himself on her repeatedly and threatened to kill both her and her mother if she disclosed it to anyone. The application further alleges that on 4 April 2026, the accused gave the girl abortion pills, after which her health deteriorated.
The woman claims that when she confronted the accused, he began threatening her. She said she submitted a complaint at Mirzamurad police station on 11 July 2026, but no action was taken. Thereafter, on 13 July 2026, the accused allegedly took the girl with him to an unknown location and switched off his mobile phone.
Manisha also stated that she submitted a complaint at the Police Commissioner’s office on 17 July 2026. On 21 July 2026, during a hearing at the ACP Rajatalab office, she and her family members were allegedly subjected to abusive language and threats by police personnel present there.
In her application to the Police Commissioner, the mother has requested a thorough investigation and strict action against Mahesh Kumar Srivastava, and has sought orders to Lalpur Pandeypur police station to register an FIR in the matter. This report is based on the complaint submitted by the victim’s mother. The police have not issued any official statement regarding the case yet.
