Attack on Idol Unacceptable, Says Dr. Geeta Rani
Varanasi: Dr. Geeta Rani, National Vice-President of the Matri Shakti Prakoshth of the Vishwa Hindu Mahasangh, has strongly condemned the alleged attack on an idol at Santoshimata Temple in the Dilsukhnagar area of Hyderabad.
In a statement issued from Varanasi, Dr. Rani said that an alleged accused, identified as Mohammad Ansari, reportedly entered the sanctum sanctorum of the temple under Chaitanyapuri police station limits and attacked the idol of Goddess Santoshi with sticks.
Describing the incident as highly condemnable, Dr. Rani said, “Such an act cannot be tolerated. An attack on a deity hurts the religious sentiments and faith of Sanatan devotees.”
She urged the authorities to take strict action in the matter and ensure that such incidents do not recur. She also appealed for the protection of religious places and the sentiments of devotees.
