Lucknow, 22 September 2026: A spectacular one-day hands-on workshop on the topic “New Techniques in Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC)” was organized today at the Chemistry Division (Department of Biotechnology) located in the Pharmacy Building of Era University. The workshop, aimed at giving a new direction to health and medical research, was chaired by Dr. M. Faheem Khan, In-charge of the Chemistry Division, while the event was successfully anchored and managed by Dr. Jainab, Assistant Professor of Department of Biotechnology.
Technical Presentation by Experts from Merck Company
The main technical session of the workshop was conducted by expert guests from the globally renowned Merck company. Company representative Mr. Triloki Gupta and SS Syndicate managed the overall execution of the program excellently, and Mr. Hitesh Chabra delivered a brilliant presentation as the keynote speaker. He first explained the principles of HPLC and GCMS to the students and then shed detailed light on modern TLC machines and their applications in the medical field.
Exciting Quiz Competition and Student Felicitation
During the presentation, a quiz competition consisting of 10 questions was organized in two phases to assess the understanding and enthusiasm of the students. In this intellectual competition, 5-5 meritorious students (a total of 10) who performed exceptionally well in each phase were honored with awards.
Presence of Senior Professors and Dignified Guests
On this occasion, several senior academicians and professors of the university were present. Significant faculty members including Dr. Shariq, Pathology In-charge of the Paramedical College; Dr. Tabrez, Head of Department (HOD) of Biotechnology; Dr. Rumana, Associate Professor of Biochemistry; and Dr. Kashif, Librarian of Era University, participated in the event and encouraged the researchers.
Hands-on Demo in Batches of 15-15 Students
The main attraction of the workshop was its practical session, in which more than 45 students participated. For better training and focused personal attention, the students were divided into small batches of 15-15. Each batch was given a live demonstration and hands-on training on the modern TLC machine in the lab, through which students learned the nuances of chromatography directly by operating it. More than 100 participants attended this hands-on workshop.

At the conclusion of the program, Dr. M. Faheem Khan, In-charge of the Chemistry Division, personally thanked all the attending guests and students for making the workshop successful.
