Angan Utsav Highlights Maternal and Child Health, Nutrition in Varanasi
Varanasi: The Child Development and Nutrition Department organized an Angan Utsav at Prasad Intermediate College in Pandeypur on Wednesday to spread awareness about maternal and child health, nutrition and government welfare schemes.
The programme provided pregnant women, lactating mothers and children with information about various departmental schemes and services. Annaprashan (first feeding ceremony) was also conducted for children, while the importance of pre-primary education for children aged 3 to 6 years was highlighted.
Chief Guest and Minister Ravindra Jaiswal emphasized the importance of maternal and child health, proper nutrition and ensuring that eligible beneficiaries receive the benefits of government schemes. Pandeypur Councillor Ashok Kumar Maurya and Sushma Singh, President of Inner Wheel Club of Banaras 312, were also present.
Officials informed the gathering that the department provides services related to nutrition, immunization, health and nutrition counselling, referral services and pre-primary education through Anganwadi centres. Information was also provided about the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana, under which eligible beneficiaries receive financial assistance of ₹5,000 for the first pregnancy and ₹6,000 for a second child if the child is a girl.
The programme was successfully conducted with the active participation of Anganwadi workers and supervisors, including Poonam Prajapati, Sarita Patel, Renu Singh, Indu Srivastava, Savita Devi, Geet Yadav, Deepti Chaurasia, Sunita Bharti, Poonam Singh, Geeta Devi, Sarika Vishwakarma, Ratna Gupta, Anita Devi, Pushpa Singh, Usha Bharti, Sangeeta Singh, Saraswati Chand Yadav, Durgawati Pal, Vivah Srivastava, Sheila Yadav and Manju Yadav.
