“If Demands Are Not Fulfilled in Six Months, I Will Resign”: Dr Farid Ansari

Pledges to fight for teachers’ rights from the House to the streets; appeals for first-preference votes on October 23

Varanasi: Dr Farid Ansari, candidate for the Legislative Council Member (MLC) election from the Varanasi Teachers’ Constituency, has appealed to teachers to extend their support to his candidature. He said he is contesting the election to raise his voice for teachers’ rights and ensure that their long-pending demands receive due attention. His nomination has been completed, and he called upon teachers to unite and turn the contest into a collective movement for their rights.
Dr Ansari said that while he had stood alone in the previous election, the Bahujan community is now also supporting him. In association with the Uttar Pradesh Teachers’ Mahasabha, he is committed to fighting for teachers’ demands and protecting their rights.
Making a strong commitment, Dr Ansari said he was seeking only six months, not six years, to get teachers’ demands fulfilled. He asserted that if he failed to get the demands addressed within six months, he would resign from his post. He further pledged to fight for teachers’ rights both inside the Legislative Council and on the streets, leaving no stone unturned in pursuing their cause.
Describing the election as a collective battle for the teaching community, Dr Ansari said, “This is not just my election; it belongs to every teacher. My victory will be the victory of teachers.” He urged teachers to unite and spread his message among their colleagues.
Appealing for support in the October 23 MLC election, he asked teachers to mark ‘1’ against his name to cast their first-preference vote. Emphasising the need for teachers to choose their own representative, he said, “Teachers should elect their own leader.” He called upon the teaching community to stand together and strengthen the struggle for their rights.
