LJP (Ram Vilas) Demands Bharat Ratna for Ram Vilas Paswan and Kanshi Ram
Varanasi, August 13, 2026: A Dalit Chaupal, Social Harmony Feast and Workers’ Dialogue was organised by the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), Purvanchal Uttar Pradesh, at Ramlila Maidan, Suichak, Gangapur, Varanasi, on Thursday.
The programme was attended by Rajiv Pasi, State President of Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), as the chief guest. Addressing party workers, Rajiv Pasi said that the Dalit Chaupal was not merely a meeting but an important platform for exchanging views, creating awareness about constitutional rights and working towards social equality and inclusive development.
He emphasised the importance of education and unity, recalling the ideals of Dr B.R. Ambedkar. He urged people to ensure higher education for their children, remain organised and actively participate in efforts for social and economic development.
Rajiv Pasi said the Constitution has provided citizens with equality and the power of the vote, and stressed the need for greater awareness about government welfare schemes related to scholarships, skill development, housing and the upliftment of disadvantaged communities.
He also called for eliminating untouchability and caste-based discrimination from society and urged party workers to work towards building socially harmonious villages and communities.
Referring to the party’s National Executive meeting held on August 10, 2026, Rajiv Pasi said that after detailed deliberations, several important resolutions were passed.
The party demanded that:
Padma Vibhushan late Shri Ram Vilas Paswan be honoured with the Bharat Ratna.
Shri Kanshi Ram be honoured with the Bharat Ratna.
Necessary steps be taken for the preservation, conservation, development and promotion of the fort of Raja Kans Pasi at Kasmandi Kalan in Malihabad, Lucknow, and the fort of Veer Shiromani Maharaja Bijli Pasi in Lucknow. Similar initiatives should also be undertaken for the fort of Maharaja Kadedin Pasi in Kada, Kaushambi.
A National Youth Commission be constituted.
A National Farmers’ Commission be constituted.
The party said these demands are aimed at strengthening social justice, social harmony and inclusive development for all sections of society.

Among those present were Dhananjay Dubey, State Organisation General Secretary; Ashutosh Singh Gaharwar, State General Secretary; Harkesh Paswan, State Vice-President; Prashant Srivastava, State Executive Member; MLC in-charge of Varanasi Pradeep Kharwar; Mandal President Pradeep Kharwar; and Govind Paswan, District President, Chandauli, among others.
Rajiv Pasi urged workers to remain committed to the principles of education, unity, social justice and equality, and called upon them to contribute towards building a society based on the ideals of Dr B.R. Ambedkar.
