
Cholapur Police Arrest Wanted Accused in Excise and Copyright Case
Varanasi: Cholapur Police, led by Inspector-in-Charge Sadhuwan Ram Gautam, arrested wanted accused Ashish Bhardwaj (26), son of Late Rambali Bhardwaj, resident of Dashwatpur, Cholapur, in connection with an Excise and Copyright Act case. He was arrested from Nakchhedpur village on August 14 at around 8:15 pm following a tip-off.
In a joint operation with the Excise Department, police recovered 40 litres of spirit, around 5 litres of illicit liquor, 777 fake QR codes, counterfeit bottle caps, bottles/pouches of various liquor brands and a TVS scooter (UP 65 FQ 8420). The accused is wanted in Case No. 330/2026 under relevant sections of the Excise Act, Copyright Act and BNS.
The police team included Inspector Sadhuwan Ram Gautam, SI (Women) Sandhya Jaiswal, SI Mahesh Jaiswal, Head Constables Anunesh Singh and Avadhraj Yadav, Constables Brijesh Yadav and Gyanendra Kumar Yadav, Head Constable Namo Narayan Pandey, along with Excise Sector-03 team members Inspector Lakshmishankar Vajpayee, Head Excise Constable Sirajuddin Khan, Afzal Siddiqui, Excise Constable Vineet Kumar and Pramod Kumar.
